PROFESSION WITH PASSION

A PROFESSION THAT DEMANDS YOUR PASSION.

Sometimes, I do ask myself, "What's the magnet in nursing profession that attracts billions of people?. I wonder if it could be as a result of the pay or the recognition in the society or the true love and care for humanity. I'm sure you know the reason in your heart as you read.

There's a particular statement my ears hate to hear from student nurses and it's nothing but "...my mum/dad forced me to do nursing or I just want to japa". This I've heard a lot of time on different occasions and you can imagine the anger it stirs up in me.

The passion you have for a thing is what drives you and drives you to success but when there's no passion, the success cannot be achieved with inner satisfaction. Nursing, a profession that requires intense care for the health of humanity in all of its spheres. It calls for those who are ready to run a thousand miles for a single life; those who will keep waiting when they face the ridiculous side of the profession; those who are ready to provide "holistic care" as it demands.

Can we go back to the days  nursing was being practiced with all diligence just because it comes from their heart?. Also, in extension to the parents, we know you want the best for your wards but it can be harmful to you, them and the society_ if your best is a force on their best. Stop dragging them into the profession, especially the ones that deal with lives! Not all of them would later love it as you supposed.

Enough of raising nurses with little or no passion!

Enough of raising nurses by title but not in action!

Enough of raising passionless nurses!

Joy~inks.
